CotEditor — a text-editor for macOS
Updated
•1 min readI recently discovered a text-editor app built for the Mac: CotEditor.
I just need a simple text-editor with few features beyond syntax colorizing/formatting. Edit a config file, type some example data. I already have IntelliJ for the heavy-lifting when programming.
I have been using the Zed app. While Zed works, and is certainly fast, it has many features exceeding my needs. And now Zed wants to be “agentic”. No thanks.
CotEditor is free-of-cost, open-source (GitHub, Apache2), and Mac-only. But most interesting is that the app is published on the Apple App Store. That’s a novelty for me, open-source published directly to the App Store.
